Botched LASIK Surgery Yields $2.1 Million Settlement

New Jersey resident James Dell’Ermo was hoping to achieve improved vision when he scheduled an appointment for corrective laser eye surgery at Dr. Joseph Russo’s clinic. Instead, Dell’Ermo wound up legally blind after the procedure was performed incorrectly. The lawsuit filed in the case claimed that Dr. Russo did not use standard diagnostic criteria that would have identified Dell’Ermo as a poor candidate for LASIK, due to the unique configuration of his corneas. The case was one of a group of 16 malpractice cases filed against Russo’s clinic last year.
