Wisconsin Family Receives $4.45 Million in Medical Malpractice Case

When 45-year-old Inland Steel security supervisor Roger Vuckovich was released from a local hospital on December 22, 2001 diagnosed with a kidney stone, his relieved family believed that his health was on the upswing. This assumption proved to be sadly mistaken, as Vuckovich died a mere 12 hours after his release. In the subsequent malpractice case, attorneys argued that the patient was improperly diagnosed, and that a simple CT scan would have revealed the abdominal aortic aneurism that experts say took his life. After an hour of deliberations, the jury awarded his survivors $4.45 million.
