Wisconsin Residents File Suit Against County in Environmental Contamination Case

According to environmental reports, official agents of Wausau County, Wisconsin allowed a dangerous chemical known as pentachlorphohenol to be released into the atmosphere from area manufacturing plants. The agent was used to treat raw wood in the county’s numerous lumber mills. The chemical is now recognized as a carcinogen, and several area residents who have developed lymphoma have banded together to file suit against the county. Others named in the case claim that proximity to the facility has depreciated the value of their land.
