Cop Car Mishap Results in Lawsuit

An off-duty Sandy City, Utah police officer was riding his personal motorcycle when he collided with a moving police car. The police officer driving the car was en route to an emergency call when the crash occurred. Although the driver claimed he followed departmental safety procedures when running a red light, the claimant – who suffered a broken leg in the incident – charged that the maneuver was negligent and displayed a reckless disregard for human life. The injured motorcyclist has requested a jury trial, although a court date has not yet been set.
