Tenant Sues Landlord Over Fall Sustained on Unmarked Step

Robert Hutchinson, a tenant at an Illinois apartment complex, was walking across the property’s common area when he tripped and fell on an unmarked, unusually low step. The fall caused Hutchison to crash onto the parking lot pavement, sustaining severe injuries on his face, knees, and hands in the process. The injured tenant has filed suit against his landlord, claiming that the unmarked step constituted negligence of the premises. The suit asks for more than $100,000 in damages and medical costs.
