The very device that 29-year-old construction worker Brandon Driggers relied upon to keep him safe as he maintained communication towers that soar hundreds of feet into the air may have caused his demise. In the aftermath of his on-the-job death, Driggers’ widow and ex-wife filed joint lawsuits against the makers of a lanyard hook that is a key component of tower workers’ safety equipment. The two alleged that the hook had not been subjected to sufficient stress testing before being offered for sale to the public. A trial date has not yet been set in the matter.
