Malpractice Suit Claims Patient Broke Hip While in Hospital

Physicians take a solemn oath to protect their patients’ health, but that’s not exactly what happened in the case of Illinois resident Elizabeth Carter. While being transferred from her hospital bed to a wheelchair, hospital staff members dropped Carter on her side, breaking her hip in the process. The subsequent lawsuit claimed that there were other gaps in Carter’s care and supervision at the hospital that also posed a threat to the patient’s health and well-being. The suit was filed by Marian Twigg, who holds power-of-attorney for Carter.
